The whole procedure should only take around 20 minutes with us in clinic. You’ll know what to expect before your treatment as you’ll have had a face-to-face consultation with us beforehand. We will have discussed your suitability, exactly how wrinkle softening treatment works, and what it involves.
This treatment requires minimum downtime. We’ll advise you to take it easy for 24 hours afterwards, but side effects are usually minor and low risk. We expect a little bruising and/or redness at the injection sites, and we don’t expect you to need any time to recover.
You should notice the first visible effects of your wrinkle softening injections approximately 2-3 days after the treatment. Maximum results will be obvious 12-14 days later. Your new look should last for 3-4 months on average before requiring a top-up treatment at our clinic to maintain your fresh look.
When the botulinum toxin is administered, we use very small needles to ensure there is minimal discomfort during the treatment. The wrinkle softening treatment will then be administered into the targeted muscles that you will have discussed with the Sarah beforehand.
Having been approved by the FDA for cosmetic procedures many years ago, wrinkle softening injections are considered a very low-risk treatment. Botulinum toxin has a very good safety record. Eyebrow and eyelid ptosis or droops are a more serious potential side effect, but it’s incredibly rare and will be discussed in your consultation.
Common side effects include mild, temporary swelling and bruising at the injection sites. Additionally, well advise you to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat such as saunas and steam rooms for up to 48 hours afterwards. We’ll provide you with comprehensive aftercare advice and a follow up, so you know exactly what you’re are doing.
Most can benefit from wrinkle softening treatments as soon as their skin begins to lose elasticity and facial expression lines become more noticeable. As well as smoothing existing predominant lines, botulinum toxin can prevent more fine lines and wrinkles appearing.
